The Power Teen Program (PTP) is a 10-stage, social emotional learning (SEL) program designed to elevate teen’s knowledge and to enhance the application of learned tools, to situations encountered in five essential core areas of development: self awareness, managing emotions and behavior, responsible decision making, social awareness and relationship skills. PTP realizes teens are facing many challenges, doubts, and fears coupled with the social urgency to stop violence in our communities’ schools. PTP addresses these issues by empowering youth with tools to help resolve and dismantle their issues or obstacles encountered in life such as:
Ø Anger | Ø Depression | Ø Rebelliousness |
Ø Anxiety | Ø Fear | Ø Sexual Promiscuity |
Ø Addiction | Ø Intimidation | Ø Shame |
Ø Bullying | Ø Low Self Esteem | Ø Violence Prevention |
Ø Difficulties in Adjusting | Ø Low Academic Performance |
|
Equally important and crucial – the Power Teen Program gives Teens proper motivation and guidance to obtain academic success and lead productive and proactive social and professional lives.
PTP is modeled along congressional standards for academic curriculum and conceptually stimulated by successful anonymous programs and documented outcomes. PTP uses a two-prong approach, healthy versus unhealthy as its building foundation and caters to a wide audience, multiple learner types, and is self paced for beginner or advanced developmental stages. Due to the sensitivity of some topics and the importance of each teen’s growth, sessions are conducted by professional group facilitators and physicians to ensure the teen’s journey to living victoriously is achieved.
The multi-faceted Power Teen Program is a personal development and motivational learning intensive experience. PTP proposes to implement a three-phrase, self-fortification curriculum in traditional, after school, and summer program settings. The program's instruction time consists of five days week for an hour and a half. The experience includes parent/student interaction and activities to reinforce learned skills and techniques to living a successful life.
PTP will provide Teens with social and emotional knowledge to apply to situational encounters. PTP provides real world skill sets within five core areas: self-awareness, managing emotions and behavior, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision making.
