                                              ORGANIZATIONAL HISTORY

The Campaign for a Drug Free Westside Inc. (CFDFW) is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization incorporated in 1990. CFDFW’s mission is, community centered and simple, to ameliorate the social ills that cause deterioration to families’ stability in the communities in which they reside. This is accomplished through prevention education which fosters positive development of Westside residents. The outcome is measured by the decrease in the number of domestic violence incidents and a decrease in those who experiment with alcohol and street drugs.

We provide  outreach,   prevention and  educational services to Westside  residents who are at-risk of alcohol, substance abuse, and domestic violence.  Through alcohol, drugs, and violence education, in addition to life skills/life coaching, sustainability, and recovery workshops, CFDFW effectively addresses a community’s social ills whose ramifications are not only affecting themselves, but all community residents. These services are a model of empowerment, which permeates throughout our organization. The services CFDFW provide emphasize the use of existing community resources and strengths of the individual, as well as, the family.  From our early relationships with community members and professionals, its philosophical cornerstone has been collaboration.

Mission

Our mission is community centered and simple, to ameliorate the social ills that cause deterioration to family stability in the communities in which they reside. This is accomplished through prevention education which fosters positive development of Westside residents. The outcome is measured by the decrease in the number of domestic violence incidents and a decrease in those who experiment with alcohol and street drugs.

                                                                  Goals

CFDFW’S goal is to equip our communities with practical tools to live successful and productive lives in order to develop a greater sense of stability, achievement and self worth.

                                                               Philosophy

To promote a safe community we must have an effective coalition of residents, business leaders, public and private organizations, and elected officials. We emphatically promote the notion that a coalition of stakeholders can effectively address a community’s social ills whose ramifications are affecting all residents.
